Clean Up Day

Today a cleaning crew comes by and transforms our work area into a fresh new habitat. Given how many times I ate at my desk (especially now during overtime), I'm glad Mr. Vacuum is coming by. But it also forced me to take everything off my desk and my cubicle walls because of the dusting, which means that all my nerdy little things found a new (temporary) home on cozy bookshelves and similar constructions. So what you get is this:

And this:

As well as this:

Which for the most part is the same as before, just way more crammed. It is a scary reminder of how much stuff (and crap) I have. I'm seriously thinking about selling most of this, keeping only the sweetest of the sweetest, like the Rancor. But then I think of those awesome Batman figures...

And then the cartoony Star Wars maquettes... Samurai Jack... more Star Wars figures... and all the little cool gizmos which are hidden behind the maquettes on the shelves right now. But would I REALLY miss them? Lately I've been going back and forth. Keeping... Selling... I know, these are life changing decisions, I know... But before I sell anything, I need to get that kneeling Darth Vader, I really like that one. Later this year I should be getting this crazy Indiana Jones statue. Ahh... it will never end... Until then here some more pics:

For a while I took a lot of fancy, posed pictures of the Batman and Animated SW Maquettes ones, I should post those one of these days.

I actually don't like that Obi-Wan that much. Same with Darth Maul. But the Emperor is cool. Now, what I really want though is Han Solo and Chewie. And Obi-Wan wearing the Clonetrooper outfit, but that one is sold out.

Barbossa from Pirates is also a very neat animated maquette.

Ahhh... see?! I can't sell any of this, I NEED more!!! MORE!!!!!!

WOW!

Pretty cool. You have alot of toys. Mind me asking how old you are?

Whenever my girlfriends have seen my collection they have always looked at me a little weird. Not obviously, but being an animater I am a master of subtle changes in body language cues and I can sense there dissapproval. 'Like are you really a big nerd or what?!' :)

Maybe I should give them a new home and take them all to work too.

I am 31, single, live in a tiny studio, have no friends and play with my dolls.

No, not really. But I am 31. :)

I do get a lot of weird looks as well once they see my toys (it also doesn't help that I have a full size stormtrooper at home in the hallway). But I'm a nerd, what can I say. I'm told to be worried about what other people think (except my wife).

But working in this industry helps to justify this toy "hobby". At least that's what I'm being told. :)

LOL! A full size stormtrooper! Awesome.I got to get me one of those. Closet I ever got was taking a photograph with one when I was a teenager. If I could post pics here I would since It would give everyone the biggest laugh. I think its like the nerdiest photo on the planet.

Good job with the wife though. My mum keeps telling me there is no hope for me since she thinks I'm already married to my computer.

No no, there is always hope. :)

Yeah, neat RAH Solid Snake. But I'm actually going to sell that one and many others. Some spring cleaning.

Plus I just saw an animated maquette version of Boba Fett standing in front of a frozen Han Solo. FANTASTIC! A must-have!
