You want to make sure that you have consistent spacing within a movement. By consistent I mean spacing that gives the impression of proper speed and action based on the character and acting, movement and intention. Or in short: avoid sudden pops. Those inconsistencies will kill the sense of weight and overall believability of your animation.
Timing and spacing are KEY factors to portraying weight (or the lack of it) and integral to proper body mechanics. You really want to have that nailed down before attempting any type of performance shots.
